Last week I attended the third Eco Expo at the Chattanooga Trade and Convention Center. The more I spoke with each vendor at the show, the more exciting and informative the experience became. There was a wealth of knowledge, across a wide spectrum of products. Each person had taken their passion for sustainability and “greenness” and developed a product that would better serve humanity and this planet. In this article I’d like to show you a little more about one particularly exciting and fun product in the Expo – The Rhoades Car. This car is a four-wheeled bicycle that is pedal-powered, with an optional electric motor. It can be customized for one person, or four. Imagine taking the whole family out for a bike ride, on one bike.

There are four basic models – the CyleCar, the GoBoy, the SportPed, and the Rhoades Industrial.

The CycleCar is the original Rhoades Car. If it is a two-seater, then two people can pedal. If you get tired, just turn on the electric motor. It can be a single speed, or up to a 42 speed transmission if you have heavy loads or lots of hills. It can even be made as a four passenger model with a canopy over it.

The GoBoy is made with the pedals below, unlike the recumbent position on some of the other bikes. It is available in 1 and 2 passenger models. Their ComfortRide model has a 22″ seat that can handle a 300+ lb. person.

With their newest model, the SportPed things really get fun. It has a aerodynamically designed windshield, padded seat, and a standard 7 speed transmission. Of course all the options are available on this one too. Basically they will build your Rhoades Car any way you want.

And finally the Rhoades Industrial Bike is the GoBoy for industry. These work horses can handle a 700 pound payload. With this model you can choose tool boxes, ladder racks, a two person passenger cab which makes it a three-person rickshaw for transporting guests around your facility, and even a model with recycling bins on the back. You can’t get greener than that.
