Quint Mansell, owner of Riverview Remodel & Repair Company, put together the 1st “Bike Move” in Chattanooga. Five experienced bikers with trailers set out to move Lisa Becht today from Jefferson Heights to the Fort Wood neighborhood. It took several trips, but they were able to move the washer, dryer, dresser, bed, and mattresses and all the other miscellaneous items using bicycles.
This is an amazing demonstration of what can be done just using pedal power. The move was just a mile and half, but it was a long mile and half for those hauling several hundred pounds up the few hills between the two neighborhoods. Andrew Gage of Velo Coffee Roasters (which delivers its coffee by bicycle), took on the task of pedaling the washer on his Bike To Work trailer. Phil carried the dryer and other boxes on his eight foot long trailer. Both Quint and Micah carried additional boxes on their backs using wooden carriers fashioned by Quint.
This might be the start of another great company: “Five Men and Five Bikes”. Check out the photos below, that start at Neidlov’s Breadworks, which helped to fuel the crew.
This documents the 1st official bike move in Chattanooga, TN. Organized by Quint Mansell, this group of biking enthusiasts, moved a household about 1 1/2 miles. The move included the washer and dryer, mattress and bed, etc.

My friend is concerned about the beards and thinks it may be too hot for the unsightly facial hair
Rad! Go Chattanooga Community! I see, via SHIFT! emailing list, calls for volunteers to do this all the time.
Those guys were fantastic. “Q” is the coolest guy I know. I thought the bike move was a major success. Thanks to all who participated- wish I had been there to witness more.
You guys are AWESOME!!!!! Congrats on pulling off the first documented bicycle move in Chattanooga.
This was a fun thing (from the other person that did nothing but take pictures) Thanks for coming out to document this momentous event!
